Digital X-Rays for Pets
When pets are sick or injured, we often need to look inside their bodies to find answers. At our clinic, we use digital X-ray technology to get clear, detailed images quickly and safely — helping us diagnose problems and provide the best care for your pet.
- Faster results — Images appear instantly on screen, so there’s less waiting and less stress.
- Sharper detail — High-quality images help us detect subtle issues that might be missed on film.
- Lower exposure — Digital systems typically require less radiation, making them safer for pets and staff.
- Easy sharing — Images can be saved to your pet’s medical record and sent to specialists.
- Eco-friendly — No film, chemicals, or physical storage required.
- Bones & joints — fractures, arthritis, developmental problems.
- Chest & lungs — heart size, pneumonia, asthma, tumors.
- Abdomen — foreign objects, bladder stones, organ size and shape.
- Dental health — specialized dental X-rays let us see below the gum line (read more on our Dental Services page).
Interpreted by Veterinary Radiologists
While our doctors are skilled at using X-rays to guide treatment, every set of images we take is also sent to a board-certified veterinary radiologist for interpretation.
Radiologists are veterinarians who have completed years of advanced training and residency programs specifically in imaging. Their expertise allows them to:
- Identify subtle changes in bone, organ, or tissue that may be missed in a general exam.
- Provide detailed reports that guide accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Offer a second layer of confidence and clarity for your pet’s care.
This collaboration ensures your pet’s images are reviewed by both your veterinarian and a specialist, giving you the most accurate information possible.
Benefits for Your Pet
- Comfortable & non-invasive — The process is quick and safe.
- Accurate diagnosis — Clearer images plus expert review mean we can pinpoint problems faster.
- Better treatment planning — Helps us decide on the best next steps for your pet’s care.
A Note About Sedation
Most pets are able to remain calm and still during imaging, but in some cases we may recommend light sedation. This helps us:
- Keep your pet comfortable and relaxed
- Ensure they stay safely still for clear, accurate images
- Complete the procedure quickly without unnecessary stress or movement
Quick, Safe, Reliable
Whether your pet swallowed something they shouldn’t have, is limping, or needs a pre-surgery exam, our digital X-rays (paired with expert radiologist review) give us the answers we need to keep them healthy.
